Stotz Racing: World’s First 200 MPH 1000cc Sportbike
The Norwalk, Ohio track has always been good to the Stotz Racing-Honda Drag Race Team. Kent Stotz recorded the first ProStreet pass in the 7.20’s at the NOPI nationals in 2006 on his Velocity Racing, Falicon Crankshaft sponsored Honda Pro Oils cbr1100xx. Now with AMA/Dragbike returning to the premier track, Frankie Stotz laid down an amazing 200.41 MPH run and then a 201.58 MPH run in the first round of eliminations. This is the first time a 1000cc streetbike broke the 200 MPH barrier in the ¼ mile. That 201.58 came after the cbr1000rr wheelied through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, slowing little Frankie to a 7.58 and an early elimination.
Cycle World Magazine gave the green light to editor Nick Ienatsch to ride the StotzRacing-Scorpion Helmet, Joe Rocket sponsored Honda cbr1000rr at the AMA/Dragbike Finals Nov. 7-9. Little Frankie said, “This is a great way for people to read about the CBR’s record setting ways in the very popular ProStreet class. I am only sorry because the bike definitely could be the first to break the 7.19 mark at the Finals. Who knows, Nick rode my dad’s Blackbird in St. Louis for Cycle World Mag. in 2005 and went to the semi-finals. If the 7.19 mark is broken I would still rather see it on a Honda.”
Stotz Racing had another great outing at the “World Power Wheel Standing Event” Oct. 4-5 posting low E.T. of the meet until rain postponed eliminations. The rain date of Oct. 26th will give Frankie one more shot at the 7.19 marker even if it is at a regional event and not the AMA/Dragbike Nationals.
