Consistency in Indy
The May 17-19th NHDRO May Bike Fest at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis was subject to rain in qualifying as the first Man Cup race was. Frankie qualified #2 with a 7.08. The next closest competitor was a 7.31. This scenario usually results in #1 or #2 winning the race. But Sunday was worm and sunny. The track temp went from a high of 107 degrees in qualifying Saturday to 126 degrees in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. #1 qualifier Bud Yoder and #2 Frankie Stotz both spun in the left lane in different rounds of eliminations. Quickest is only best mixed with consistency. Congratulations to Doug Gall on his win for being the quickest consistent person on race day.
We made 11 test passes on the new bike. Because it was not entered in competition I was able to try many of my ideas from the past year that we were not able to test when competing. As most new concepts go, you get 1 or 2 that work for every 10 tried. I will take that, do one more test and tune of 5-6 more new ideas with the new bike and I think we will be ready to improve the National Record. Look for the Red, White, and Blue Honda CBR1000RR and Frankie in his Captain America Joe Rocket leathers to be in the record books again soon!
